Almost Every Crash Report You Read is Wrong—and Why that Matters
May 19, 2021 All day
All too often, articles and police reports about motor vehicle operator v. bicycle rider/pedestrian crashes use language that puts the fault on the vulnerable user regardless of circumstances. This language can unduly influence a societal narrative that victim-blames people walking and biking. We will discuss the real-life consequences and legal repercussions of crash language, and compare good and bad crash reporting with actual examples.
This special MORNING webinar is part of UN Global Road Safety week, and will feature Eliza Cress (BCM), Lauri Boxer-Macomber (attorney at Kelly, Remmel & Zimmerman/Bike Law), and Gersh Kuntzman (editor-in-chief of Streetsblog USA).
