Webinar: “Creating Corridors for Active Transportation”
November 17, 2021 @ 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm
Research shows that access to trails, paths, transit, and active transportation is good for our health and community building, helps reduce carbon emissions, and so much more. Over the past 1.5 years, amid a global pandemic, it became even clearer that access to safe outdoor spaces for transportation and recreation are vital for our health and well-being.
In Maine, there is growing momentum and excitement around converting unused rail lines to multi-use trails and building passenger rail on existing rail lines. Recently passed legislation provides an avenue to begin the process of making multi-use trail corridors all across Maine. In this webinar, we will explore the public health value of access to trails and active transportation options, as well as unpack the legislative process and discuss how local advocates can make this plan a reality.
Speakers Include:
Becca Boulos, Maine Public Health Association
Jean Sideris, Bicycle Coalition of Maine
Sue Ellen Bordwell, Casco Bay Trail Alliance
Dick Woodbury, East Coast Greenway
