Walk and Roll: Advocating for Pedestrians and Cyclists (Webinar)
November 21 @ 9:30 am – 11:00 am
Join AARP Maine as we host a presentation by Paul Drinan of the Bicycle Coalition of Maine about becoming an advocate for pedestrians and bicyclists in your community. We encourage you to consider the following questions, which we’ll discuss during this online event.
- What are the biggest issues concerning bicycling and walking in your community
- Do you have particular experiences or expertise which would help you function as an effective advocate?
- Have you previously been involved in advocating for improvements to your community that encourage biking and walking?
- Have you ever been involved in a community-wide effort to accomplish a particular goal or project?
Drinan will also share information about state resources to assist communities, as well as AARP’s own resources like the Walk Audit Tool Kit. By joining this presentation and learning about the Bicycle Coalition of Maine’s advocacy resources, you can become part of a growing coalition of people working to improve biking and walking conditions in Maine.
This event will also feature Anna Guest, Co-Director of Lifelong Maine at the University of Maine Center on Aging, in conversation with representatives of two communities about their work improving access and safety for pedestrians and bicyclists.
