The Maine Woods Rambler
September 24, 2022 – September 25, 2022
The wait is over! You are cordially invited to the second annual Maine Woods Rambler, at the New England Outdoor Center, in Millinocket. Once again, we’ve teamed up with Katahdin Area Trails to create a most excellent adventure & bicycle wilderness experience. We had an absolute blast last year, despite the wild weather, so we’re back to do it again. Won’t you join us?
The weekend kicks off on Saturday, September 24, with an optional guided trail tour, highlighting the newly built mountain bike trails at Hammond Ridge! Bring your mountain bike and join the ride, or rent a kayak and hang out on Millinocket Lake.
The main event is on Sunday, September 25, with two routes to choose from with mass starts: a 50-km epic ride and a 100-km even-more-epic-er ride. The Sunday ride is best for seasoned riders, as both routes will punish you with challenging climbs and fast descents, and reward you with sweeping vistas of the surrounding lakes, rivers, and peaks. A guided family trail ride will also take place on Sunday for youth and families who want to check out the trails, with bikes and instruction available courtesy of the Katahdin Gear Library.
Featuring:
- Fully supported and marked gravel routes open ONLY for this event
- 50-km (33 mile) or 100-km (65 mile) options
- A post-ride meal at the new NEOC activity center- Knife Edge Restaurant!
- Optional activities such as guided mountain biking, rafting, hiking, fishing, and kayaking (on Saturday)
