The Electric Cargo Bike Revolution – How families, households & businesses are ditching the car and transforming communities

The electric cargo bike is rapidly on the rise globally. Come learn about the fascinating history of cargo bikes starting with amazing models dating back to the 1880’s. Along the way we’ll explore the latest innovative designs and e-assist technologies enabling parents to move their kids and loads around like never before (and as if climate change & our communities really mattered) as well as a range of exciting commercial applications transforming delivery options in cities and towns. We’ll also consider why this is so much more than just a technological revolution, but an opportunity for us to deeply and authentically return to a more responsible and embodied relationship to this world we all inhabit.
Presenter bio
Dave Cohen works as a consultant for the state of Vermont providing free bike consultations for all Vermont residents. In addition, he is the founder and director of VBike (vbikesolutions.org), a non-profit organization that promotes new bike design & technologies for everyday bicycle transportation in Vermont. In the mid-1990’s, Dave founded Pedal Express, a delivery service in Berkeley, CA utilizing a fleet of cargo bikes. The company gained national recognition for its innovative partnerships. When not on a bike, Dave is an integrative psychotherapist (davecohencounseling.com) specializing in approaches in mind/body modalities & ecopsychology. He and his family recently relocated from Brattleboro, VT to South Portland.
