Stars Over Katahdin 2015

Join us for a weekend introduction to Katahdin Woods and Waters Recreation Area and some of the darkest skies East of the Rockies.
Meet at noon on the 12 at Sandbank Campsite to carpool into the trail head for Beautiful Orin Falls and the Wassataquoik Valley. The short ride to Orin Falls is about 6 miles round trip on old logging roads. For a greater challenge you can take an unguided loop back and increase your mileage by 6+ more miles. For those in the family who do not want biking , there is a guided hike up Barnard Mountain (appx 4 miles round trip) ending with views of Katahdin Lake and the mountain itself.  A Community Campfire and guided viewing of the skies over Katahdin complete with telescopes and astronomers ends the evening.
