MAINE BIKING BELLES WRENCH NIGHT
October 16, 2016 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
FREE night of wrenching for women, trans, and femme (WTF)-identifying bicyclists. Join us each third Tuesday of the month at the Portland Gear Hub for a fun and supported night of open bench time to learn basic bike mechanics!
Bring your bike, a WTF-identifying friend, and your positive energy! Don’t have a bike? We have plenty of bikes that you can work on to help out the Portland Gear Hub!
Wrench Nights are brought to you by the Maine Biking Belles, the Portland Gear Hub and the Bicycle Coalition of Maine.
Who are the Maine Biking Belles?
The Maine Biking Belles are a group of women, trans, and femme (WTF) bicyclists providing regular education and ecouragement opportunities such as bike mechanics, group rides, social events, and knowledge sharing for WTF-identifying bicyclists in the greater Portland area.

What is Wrench Night?
A FREE monthly meet up and bike education program that aims to create a Safer Space for women, trans*, and femme (WTF) individuals to learn about bicycles and share their expertise in Portland’s biking community. On the third Tuesday of each month, WTF-identifying individuals gather for hands-on bike mechanics and safety presentations.
Who is able to attend Wrench Night?
Wrench nights are open to anyone who identifies as female, transgender, femme, genderqueer, trans-masculine, trans-feminine, or feels that their socialization or treatment as a woman/transperson*/femme has impeded their participation in bicycle mechanics and rides.
What is a Safer Space?
A Safer Space is a space that is safe, inclusive, and welcoming for EVERY BODY, regardless of gender/race/ability/orientation, etc. Portland Biking Belles does not guarantee safety – we are all responsible for making safer spaces. The safety and comfort of our WTFs is THE MOST IMPORTANT THING.
