Gorham Connector Public Forum
September 5 @ 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm
The Bicycle Coalition of Maine (BCM) is working with Mainers For Smarter Transportation, an organization formed to promote sustainable transportation for all Mainers, as they host a public forum in Westbrook to engage the public about the proposed highway expansion in Gorham.
Join us Thursday, September 5, from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at the Westbrook Community Center (426 Bridge St.). This will also be an opportunity to speak with elected officials and share your thoughts on the highway expansion.
At the only public forum on this issue hosted by the Maine Turnpike Authority (MTA) in March, hundreds of opponents turned out, and further public engagement was put on hold. The BCM is opposed to the connector, believing that transportation options for the residents along this corridor need to be improved, but building a highway will not solve traffic, improve safety, protect our natural resources, or help Maine reduce its climate emissions. You can learn more about the BCM position here.
Mainers for Smarter Transportation is hosting this event and inviting the MTA, MaineDOT, as well as town and elected officials, residents, and business owners to join in a community forum to discuss the connector. Click here to register, here if you would like to volunteer.
Now is the time to act and be heard! We hope you can attend this Thursday.
