Cookie’s Ride to Support Cancer Research at The Jackson Laboratory
October 3, 2015 @ 8:45 am - 1:00 pm
$10The third annual “Cookie’s Ride,” a bicycling fundraiser for cancer research on the celebrated Park Loop Road in Acadia National Park, will be Saturday, Oct. 3 at The Jackson Laboratory.
Cookie’s Ride celebrates the life of Geertruida “Cookie” Willems, a longtime member of the Jackson Laboratory community who died of ovarian cancer in August 2012. All proceeds of this bicycling event will benefit The Cookie Willems/Jackson Laboratory Cancer Research Fund. The fund was established to honor Cookie and other friends and colleagues who have suffered from cancer, and to drive future cancer research at The Jackson Laboratory.
Registration starts at 8 a.m., and cyclists can choose from two routes. The first is a 20-mile route, starting at 9 a.m., through Acadia National Park following the Park Loop Road. The second option is a family-friendly six-mile loop, starting at 10:30 a.m. A post-ride picnic celebration will follow at noon at The Jackson Laboratory.
There is a registration fee of $10 for each cyclist. All cyclists must raise at least $100 to participate in Cookie’s Ride, but donations of any size are welcomed. There’s no fee for “virtual riders” or donors. For more information or to register or donate, visit http://www.jax.org/cookiesride or call 207-288-6340.
