(DRESDEN, Maine) Jan. 25, 2021 – A pedestrian traveling on Route 127/Middle Road in Dresden was hit and killed by a driver Friday afternoon.
Police say Eva Russell-Edmonds, 40, of Woolwich, was struck by Matthew Larochelle, 44, of Richmond, who was operating a 2010 Honda CRV.
“Our thoughts are with the victim’s family,” says Bicycle Coalition of Maine Executive Director Jean Sideris. “We urge drivers to exercise caution behind the wheel, especially in dark conditions.”
Sideris says the BCM wants to remind Mainers that, by law, pedestrians and cyclists are allowed to travel on Maine roadways, and drivers should anticipate seeing them, particularly in rural towns where sidewalks are not available.
Police continue to investigate the crash, and anyone who witnessed the incident or a pedestrian on Middle Road between 3 p.m. and 5:15 p.m. is asked to contact the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office at 207-882-7332.
