Bicycle Coalition of Maine's 7th Annual Lobster Ride & Roll Set for July 26
Rockland, Maine - Hundreds of bicyclists from across the United States and Canada will participate in the Seventh Annual Maine Lobster Ride & Roll sponsored by the Bicycle Coalition of Maine on Saturday, July 26 in Rockland.
Maine's most scenic and tasty bike ride winds along country roads and follows the rock-bound coast, passing Owls Head Light and Marshall Point Light in Port Clyde. Ride options include distances of 16, 30, 50 and 100 miles.
All rides will begin and end at Rockland High School. Cyclists will be served a freshly made lobster roll lunch. (Tuna and veggie options are available.) Live Tour de France coverage will be provided at the site.
Participants will receive free Lobster Ride bike socks and free admission to the Farnsworth Art Museum, Owls Head Transportation Museum and the Lighthouse Museum. The ride is fully supported, with maps, rest stops and showers available at the end.
Registration costs $65 before July 14, with a $10 discount for Bicycle Coalition of Maine (BCM) members. Children ages 12 through 17 years pay $25 and children 11 and under are free. For registration forms and more information, please visit www.BikeMaine.org or phone 623-4511.
On the day of the ride, registration will open at 7 a.m. at Rockland High School. There will be staggered start times for the four rides, beginning at 8 a.m.
The Maine Lobster Ride & Roll is the BCM's largest annual fundraiser. Proceeds support the BCM's programs that educate Mainers about bike safety and Share the Road laws while advocating for more bicycle facilities and access.
Major sponsors of the Maine Lobster Ride & Roll include VBT Bicycling Vacations, HealthWorks, the Maine Lobster Festival, L.L. Bean, GOMAINE and 102.5 ThePeak.
Advocating bicycling safety, education and access in Maine since 1992, the Bicycle Coalition of Maine is working to make Maine accessible and safe for all residents and visitors so they may comfortably and responsibly bicycle. The BCM also promotes bicycling for transportation, health, recreation and fun to enhance our communities, environment and economy.
