Donating to the BCM

Donating to the Bicycle Coalition of Maine is a great way to help ensure better bicycling in our state. Your donation helps fund a variety of projects throughout the state. There are a number of options available--from making an immediate cash gift, to providing valuable goods and services, to including the BCM in your estate plans. Choose the method that works best for you:

Tax-deductible Contributions

We are more than happy to help you lower your tax liability and what better way to do it than to donate to your favorite organization working to improve your favorite activity! Simply send a check to: The Bicycle Coalition of Maine, PO Box 5275, Augusta, Maine 04332.

Matching Workplace Gifts

Many employers will match your membership or annual fund gift to the BCM, substantially adding to your support of our good work. Just obtain your company's matching gifts form and enclose it with your membership or annual fund donation and we'll do the rest!

Annual Giving

Your tax-deductible gift to the BCM above and beyond your membership helps further support the projects and programs that help us achieve our mission of safety, education, and access. The Annual Fund provides an essential portion of the BCM's operating budget, supporting our good work throughout the state. Click here for details on the BCM's Annual Fund.

MaineShare and the United Way

The BCM is one of 37 statewide nonprofits in MaineShare working to prevent and solve environmental, social, health and justice problems in Maine. By donating through MaineShare you can have your donation deducted equally throughout the year (payroll deduction) -- it makes it easier to be more generous and benefit the BCM! If your workplace doesn't offer MaineShare for payroll contributions, contact MaineShare at 207-622-0105 to find out more. If your employer offers the United Way, you can earmark your contribution to go to the Bicycle Coalition of Maine through the write in option.

Honorariums & Memorials

What better way to honor the bicyclist in your life than by helping to promote bicycling? Your tax-deductible donations in honor or in memory of your loved ones help us continue our mission of safety, education, and access.

When you give an honorarium or memorial gift, the person honored or the family of the person memorialized will receive an acknowledgement of your gift. Your token of appreciation recognizes that person's contribution to Maine bicycling at the same time that it broadens and continues their legacy by contributing to the BCM mission.

Planned Giving & Bequests

Planned giving not only ensures bicycling access for future generations to enjoy, but can also provide valuable tax benefits to your estate. A bequest in your will is often the most direct and most significant way to make a planned gift. The type of bequest depends on individual circumstance but may take the form of specified amounts of cash, stock or other securities, life insurance, real estate or other property. Another option is to bequeath a percentage of your estate to the BCM along with other beneficiaries, or to give the residual after other bequests have been fulfilled. If you are interested in updating your will or adding a codicil to include the BCM as a beneficiary please consult with your attorney. Contact the BCM for more details.

Contact the BCM at 207-623-4511 or email info@BikeMaine.org to learn more about these giving options.
